Community Pulse

Tired! Getting a lot ready for launch.

Core Agenda Items

Subvert Financials Revenue and Future Funding (Corp Board–relevant)

  • Reviewed current revenue and burn rate.
  • John Garry is helping Austin with fundraising.
  • Platform is now available to view and upload for all members; this has driven a needed influx of zine purchases.

Review Terms of Use Policy Changes (Co-op Board action)

  • The original ToU was very basic and needed an overhaul.
  • Next month, Michael Weinberg (Executive Director, Engelberg Center on Innovation Law and Policy, NYU School of Law) will review the ToU.
  • Pushing some updates ahead of going live:
    • Direct license for co-op members: when an artist enables "Unlimited Previews for Subvert Members," the ToU now states this is effectively a direct license to other co-op members.
    • Permissions may be edited based on PRO.
    • Added language against AI scraping and training off the platform.

Review Privacy Policy / Payment Policy Proposed Changes (Co-op Board action)

  • Subvert didn't previously have a payment policy; this draft covers payment processing basics, the Optional Contributions fee model, and withholding of mechanical royalties for artists.
  • Current Privacy Policy: https://subvert.fm/privacy-policy/

Review Community Standards Policy Proposed Changes (Co-op Board action)

  • Subvert doesn't currently have a formal Community Standards policy. Goal: ratify an initial version and gather member feedback for future edits.
  • Open questions: what behavior do we police? Off-platform? Speech and posts?
  • The policy is referenced in the Member Agreement and covers platform actions and forum conduct.
  • Considerations around working with people in countries banned by the US.

Review Patronage Activity and Ownership Points Policy (Co-op Board action)

  • Drafted by Austin; Subvert didn't have this before.
  • Considered straightforward.

Remaining Notes

  • Sean shared platform updates (release notes).
  • Opened access for all artists to create pages a week ago — nearly 50,000 tracks on the platform.
