How to submit a proposal
Any Co-op Member can propose a change to how the cooperative works. There are two paths.
The informal path
Most ideas start as conversations in the Subvert Forum. Post your idea, get feedback from other members, refine it. Workers and board members are active on the forum and will engage. Many proposals get answered, adopted, or merged into broader decisions without ever needing a formal vote.
This is the recommended starting point for most ideas.
The formal path
If you want a formal vote at the Annual General Meeting, the bylaws set a clear process:
- Write your proposal in detail.
- Submit it to the board at least 60 days before the AGM.
- Get co-signatures from at least 5% of eligible members on the proposal.
- The board needs to confirm the proposal is appropriate for the agenda. At least one-third of the directors must agree.
- If approved, your proposal goes on the AGM ballot. You can submit a 250-word statement in favor of the proposal, which gets included in the meeting notice.
- Members vote on it at the AGM.
The board can also independently add proposals to the AGM agenda without going through the petition process.
What we are still building
We have not yet built tools in the platform to draft proposals or collect co-signatures formally. Right now the path runs through the forum and direct contact with the board. Governance features are something we will continue to build out over time.
To get started with a proposal, post in the forum or email info@subvert.fm.
